The big man himself, Santa, took time out from his busy schedule to nip in to the Stretford Mall shopping centre this weekend and St John Ambulance volunteers were on hand just in case there were any festive first aid emergencie
Santa sadly didn’t have time to stay and learn any first aid but the 1st Firswood Rainbows & Brownies grabbed the chance to learn some life saving skills.
Graham Ellis, Training & Community Projects Manager at St John Ambulance said: ‘It’s a shame that Santa couldn’t stay but he’s really busy in the run up to Christmas and he’d left his sleigh on the car park without a ticket!. He did tell us though that he believes everyone should have access to first aid training and he knows that first aid can be the difference between a life lost and a life saved.’
Santa said, ‘Ho, ho, ho. First aid skills are so important, everyone should learn to be sure of a lifelong place on the ‘Nice’ list. I make sure all my elves keep their first aid skills current, you just never know when you might need to help in an emergency.’
Simon Rowland, trainer at the pop-up said, ‘It was fantastic to see Santa, he’d apparently been on a practice sleigh run before the main event on Christmas Eve so it was great that he took the time to nip in and see us. The Rainbows and Brownies stayed on and had a great time learning some first aid skills. It’s never too early to learn life saving skills.’
The pop up training centre can be found on the first floor at Stretford Mall
